Time

After the period of selection and approval of interested parties, the Meliponário opens in approximately 3 months. For 12 months, the project will receive bimonthly monitoring from the BZZ Abelhas Nativas team.

Institutions interested in carrying out the project must register and present their project in the area of environment and sustainability, explaining ongoing initiatives and justifying their interest in setting up the Meliponário. Then wait for contact.

Once registrations are made, proposals will be evaluated, considering those that present the best conditions for keeping bee societies safe.

To define the beneficiaries, avoiding risk to bees, a technical visit will be made to the pre-selected institutions, for an in-person assessment of the available conditions and structure and adaptation needs.

Once the unit (or units) covered is confirmed, the entire community (teachers, students and staff) will undergo guidance through lectures and workshops with basic information about Meliponiculture.

In the next phase, a local team made up of volunteer members of the community, participants in the previous phase, will be assembled to assemble the infrastructure, the technical person will be defined, and documents will be collected for registration with state bodies. Finally, the accommodation of bee society boxes and the inauguration of the Meliponário.

Finally, during a period of 12 months there will be bimonthly monitoring by the BZZ Abelhas Nativas team, providing support for the correct and safe use of the “laboratory”, with the possibility of visits from parents, the surrounding community and other educational units, expanding the reach of the project. During this period, the unit must develop autonomy to manage the Meliponário.

The entire process must not exceed the limit of 18 months, from the publication of the notice to the final delivery of technical responsibility.
