Precious Plastic Workspace, South Korea

Precious Plastic Workspace, South Korea

The alternative plastic recycling system run by (brilliant) people around the planet.

Precious Plastic began in 2013 as an open-source plastic recycling project, creating an alternative to expensive industrial recycling systems. The global network now spans multiple countries with hundreds of active workspaces.

Precious Plastic Melbourne is a family-owned social enterprise and Australia's verified partner, specialising in grassroots micro-recycling. They've successfully supported numerous community groups in establishing workspaces across Australia.

The workspace model focuses on "Mix" operations - combining multiple plastic types and processing methods. This approach is ideal for beginners as it's more forgiving than single-plastic-type processing whilst still producing quality results.

Safety is paramount with proper personal protective equipment required including dust masks, safety glasses, and heat-proof gloves. The workspace operates on 380V electrical supply with machines designed for community-scale operation.

The global Precious Plastic community connects through Discord and online platforms, sharing techniques, troubleshooting, and celebrating successes. This network provides ongoing support beyond the initial setup phase.
