The Kindness Postbox invites communities to write uplifting letters, poems, and drawings that are delivered to people who need encouragement most, spreading hope and connection one envelope at a time.
The Kindness Postbox was founded in 2020 by writer and community volunteer Colleen Savage, who wanted to spread joy during the pandemic. Since then, thousands of messages have been delivered to care homes, with overwhelmingly positive responses from residents and staff.
Local councils, schools, and community groups have embraced the initiative, turning it into a popular movement recognized by Creative Lives (https://www.creative-lives.org/the-kindness-postbox). The project has featured in local government campaigns, such as Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council, showcasing its impact on wellbeing and social connection - https://www.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/kindness-post-box-messages-bring-joy-to-those-who-need-it-most/
