This initiative has been developed by Nirmaan Organization in partnership with Panjurli Labs, combining community engagement expertise with cutting-edge air purification technology. The project directly supports six UN Sustainable Development Goals: Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Innovation & Infrastructure, Sustainable Cities & Communities, Responsible Consumption & Production, and Climate Action.
The air purifiers feature multi-stage filtration systems including coarse filters for dust and pollen, fine filters for PM1 particles, activated carbon filters for odours and gases, and UV sterilisation for bacteria and viruses. Classroom units consume only 80W of power and operate quietly with touchscreen controls, while corridor units are built with child-safe, durable mild steel construction.
Impact measurement tracks air quality improvements, reduced absenteeism, student engagement through awareness activities, and total particulate matter captured. The pilot project has demonstrated significant reductions in PM2.5 and PM10 levels, with comprehensive monitoring supporting evidence-based scaling to additional schools and communities.
