Time

4-6 hours per week for six months during implementation and monitoring phases.

 Secure School Partnership

Identify and approach local schools willing to participate in the clean air initiative. Present the health and learning benefits to school leadership, highlighting reduced absenteeism and improved student performance. Secure written agreement for installation access, electrical connections, and staff participation in training sessions. Establish clear communication channels with head teachers and facility managers for smooth coordination throughout the project.

Install Air Purification Systems

Work with technical partners to install classroom air purifiers (150 CFM capacity) and corridor units (1000 CFM capacity) throughout the school. Ensure proper electrical connections and optimal placement for maximum air circulation. Test all units for proper functioning, train school staff on basic operation and maintenance, and set up air quality monitoring dashboards for real-time tracking of pollution levels.

Launch Awareness Campaigns

Conduct engaging educational sessions with students about air pollution, health impacts, and environmental protection. Distribute innovative Pollution Pencils made from captured particulate matter as tangible examples of pollution reduction. Train teachers to integrate air quality topics into existing lessons, creating sustained awareness beyond the initial campaign period and fostering long-term environmental consciousness.

Monitor and Measure Impact

Track air quality improvements through continuous monitoring of PM2.5 and PM10 levels, comparing baseline measurements with post-installation data. Document student and teacher feedback regarding health improvements and learning environment changes. Record absenteeism rates, respiratory health complaints, and overall school attendance patterns to demonstrate tangible benefits and build evidence for programme expansion.

Plan for Sustainability

Develop maintenance schedules and train local staff in basic purifier care including filter replacement and cleaning procedures. Create community ownership through parent and local leader engagement, building support for ongoing operational costs. Document lessons learned and successful practices to support replication in other schools, establishing a model for sustainable clean air initiatives across the region.
