Earthlings Hub operates as a non-profit international educational initiative under the 501(c)(3) Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. The program emerged specifically to support children displaced by war in Ukraine, including those in refugee camps and evacuated orphanages.
Teachers from participating schools report significant benefits: "The studios gave us motivation for learning... conducted by inspirational volunteers with encyclopaedic knowledge who encouraged students to think, research, and experiment." The inquiry-based approach helps students understand connections between phenomena and see the universe holistically.
The program philosophy centres on helping students recognise their place in the world and take responsibility for its future. Students learn to consider their abilities, aspirations, and limitations whilst creating their own sense of purpose.
Classes begin mid-September each school year and continue for the full season. The program includes optional homework activities and emphasises active participation in discussions and projects. All materials are delivered through Google Classroom, requiring Gmail registration for access.
