Start by submitting your application on ChangeX, describing your Anganwadi or early childhood centre and its current power situation. Include details such as the number of children, existing electricity supply, and any specific needs like vaccine storage or evening crèche hours. The Nirmaan team reviews applications and prioritises sites with the greatest documented need. Field-assessed and formally verified sites move fastest through approval. 

A Nirmaan field officer visits your centre to carry out a technical site assessment. They measure the available rooftop or open area, assess the existing electrical load, check structural suitability for panel mounting, and identify the best configuration for your needs. This assessment produces a system specification — detailing panel capacity, inverter type, wiring layout, and whether battery backup is appropriate. You review and approve the design before any procurement begins. The assessment typically takes one visit of two to three hours and results in a clear, costed plan.

Nirmaan's procurement team sources Tier-1 branded solar panels, an on-grid inverter, mounting structures, and all electrical components at pre-negotiated prices including GST and installation labour. A certified solar installation team carries out the rooftop work, wiring, and connection to the centre's electrical board. Installation at a 3 kW scale typically takes one to two days. On completion, the installer commissions the system, confirms it generates power, and hands over documentation including the warranty certificate, system diagram, and emergency contact details for technical support.

Before the installer leaves, your local parent group or SHG volunteers receive a hands-on training session covering panel cleaning (weekly), generation monitoring (monthly readings), basic fault recognition, and the escalation process for any technical issues. Stewards receive a simple one-page maintenance checklist in the local language. This step is not optional — community stewardship is what determines whether a system lasts 5 years or its full 25-year design life. Nirmaan provides ongoing field support and can be contacted directly if volunteers encounter anything outside the checklist.

Each month, your steward group records electricity generation and shares a brief report with Nirmaan and ChangeX. This data feeds into the fund's impact dashboard and demonstrates to funders and government bodies the real savings and environmental benefits your centre is achieving. Over a year, a 3 kW system typically saves a centre ₹30,000–50,000 in electricity costs and displaces several tonnes of CO₂.
