PHCs with formal needs assessments, district authority letters, or records of vaccine wastage due to power cuts are prioritised. Nirmaan reviews applications and confirms grant eligibility. You'll receive an onboarding call and a scheduled site visit date.

A Nirmaan engineer visits the PHC to assess the rooftop, existing electrical board, cold chain locations, and critical load requirements. They design a system that prioritises your PHC's most critical loads — typically OPD lighting, the pharmacy, the labour room, and vaccine refrigerators. For sites with severe outage risk, a battery backup circuit for the cold chain and labour room is included in the design. The engineer discusses the layout with the Medical Officer and facility manager, agrees on the final specification, and documents approval before procurement begins.

Nirmaan's certified installation team fits the rooftop solar array, inverter, wiring, and — where included — the battery backup unit and dedicated cold chain circuit. Installation at a 10 kW scale takes two to three days. The team commissions each circuit separately, verifying that cold chain equipment, OPD lights, and critical ward loads all function correctly on solar power. The Medical Officer receives a full handover including system documentation, warranty certificates, a maintenance schedule, and direct contact details for technical support and emergency escalation.

Before handover, Nirmaan runs a practical training session with ASHAs, nursing staff, and the facilities manager. Training covers weekly panel cleaning, monthly generation log entries, cold chain temperature monitoring protocols, and the process for raising a technical fault. Stewards receive a checklist in the local language. Cold chain temperature logs — already a standard part of PHC practice — are updated to include the solar circuit status, creating a seamless integration with existing health facility protocols. Nirmaan field staff remain available for quarterly visits and remote support.

Each month, your steward team records electricity generation, cold chain uptime, and any service disruptions, submitting a brief report to Nirmaan and ChangeX. This data directly demonstrates the system's clinical value — continuous cold chain power, uninterrupted OPD sessions, and reliable maternity care. Share your PHC's results with the district health officer and other PHCs in your block. Facilities that demonstrate strong stewardship and documented clinical benefit become advocates for solar adoption across the primary healthcare network, helping to secure support for additional sites.
