Developed by The Play Project Consultants, Kitcamp has been successfully implemented across diverse settings including military communities, educational institutions, museums, festivals, and hospitals. The system's versatility makes it suitable for year-round use and adaptable to various topics and curriculum needs.
Teachers report exceptional engagement: "It has potential for all children: gifted children, less able children, anyone. It can be used all year round outside or inside, and it's suitable for all ages," notes Mrs Genner from Churchfields. The equipment proves durable even for older children, with Ms Barnes-Taylor describing it as "safe and durable, even for the toughest year 6 children."
The panels' simple design means 4-year-olds can independently connect them, promoting fine motor skills through the plugging and strapping process. Regular use shows children evolving from construction-focused play to rich imaginative scenarios, with language development and collaborative play becoming prominent features.
Kitcamp supports risky play within safety guidelines, allowing children to climb one level high on their constructions. The system complements loose parts play philosophy and can be integrated into existing curricula to enrich STEM learning and inclusion practices.
