Book an in-school workshop with Cyber Safe Ireland to help children use technology in a safe, positive and successful manner.
Founded in 2016 by Alex Cooney and Cliona Curley, CyberSafeIreland has educated thousands of children across Ireland. Co-founder Cliona Curley worked in cybercrime investigation for 10 years before volunteering in schools, where she discovered how young children were using social media with minimal guidance.
The programme includes a 5-minute pre-workshop survey to assess students' technology experience, device ownership, and current app usage. This data helps design tailored workshops and contributes to annual trend reports that inform national online safety policies.
Workshops are currently available in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Westmeath, Louth, Longford, Clare, Cavan, Limerick, Tipperary, and Cork, with expansion planned for additional counties.
Barry O'Leary from St. Kevin's School Sallynoggin praised the workshops as "exemplars of best practice" that deliver "practical, accessible and apposite advice" in an "encouraging and engaging manner."
The programme provides ongoing resources through their website including the "5 things we need to talk about at home" handout and Family Agreement templates.
