A resource hub providing autism-specific guidance and community connection during Covid-19, helping autistic individuals and families navigate disrupted routines and new challenges.
AsIAm is Ireland's National Charity for the Autism Community, working to make Ireland the most autism-friendly and inclusive place to live. The organisation has identified four main barriers to inclusion that autistic people experience: communication differences, sensory environment challenges, need for predictability and control, and societal judgement.
Through community research, AsIAm identified the greatest needs during Covid-19 and developed specific resources accordingly. The initiative recognises that barriers to inclusion often result from how society responds rather than autism itself. Resources are continuously updated based on community feedback and emerging needs. The programme demonstrates how targeted support can help vulnerable communities navigate crisis situations whilst maintaining connection and wellbeing.
