Resource Checklist

Time

9 weeks for the core programme plus light mentoring support over the following 6 months.

Recruit Participants

Start by identifying and recruiting young people who would benefit from personal development and skills training. Work with schools, community organisations, youth centres, and local networks to reach potential participants.

Aim for a cohort of around 25–30 participants. This size allows meaningful collaboration while ensuring facilitators can support each participant effectively.

Communicate clearly that the programme focuses on personal growth, teamwork, and real‑world experience. Participants should understand that they will take part in workshops, group challenges, and community projects.

Collect basic information during registration to understand participants’ goals and backgrounds. This helps facilitators tailor activities and support throughout the programme.

Once the cohort is selected, organise an orientation session to introduce the programme structure, expectations, and outcomes.

Run 9‑Week Programme

Deliver the core nine‑week programme through a combination of workshops, team activities, and facilitated discussions.

Sessions should focus on building key life skills such as communication, confidence, leadership, and teamwork. Use interactive learning methods including group challenges, role‑play, and problem‑solving exercises.

Encourage participants to reflect on their strengths, identify personal goals, and develop practical plans for their future.

Facilitators should create a safe and supportive learning environment where participants feel comfortable sharing ideas and building trust with one another.

Throughout the programme, track progress and encourage peer learning. Team activities help participants build strong relationships and develop collaboration skills that will benefit them in work and community settings.

Deliver Community Projects

During the programme, participants work together to design and deliver community projects. These projects allow them to apply their new skills while creating tangible impact.

Facilitators guide participants through project planning, including identifying community needs, defining goals, and allocating team roles.

Projects may focus on issues such as environmental awareness, youth engagement, or community improvement initiatives.

Encourage participants to manage the projects themselves while facilitators provide support and structure.

By completing these initiatives, participants gain hands‑on leadership experience, learn how to collaborate effectively, and see the real impact they can create in their communities.

Each cohort should aim to deliver at least two community projects before the programme concludes.

Provide Post‑Progression Support

After the nine‑week programme, participants enter a six‑month post‑progression phase designed to sustain momentum and strengthen outcomes.

During this period, organisers continue to track participants’ progress and provide additional support where needed.

Support may include mentoring sessions, targeted skills workshops, career guidance, and networking opportunities.

For participants who launch home‑based micro‑enterprises, the programme can offer business support such as product development advice, marketing training, and branding assistance.

Regular check‑ins help ensure participants stay engaged and continue applying the skills they learned during the programme.

This extended support phase helps participants move from short‑term growth to long‑term personal and economic stability.

Measure Impact and Scale

After each programme cycle, collect data to measure outcomes and demonstrate impact.

Track key indicators such as programme completion rate, improvements in confidence and communication skills, and the number of community projects delivered.

Collect participant feedback, testimonials, and stories that highlight personal growth and community benefits.

Sharing these results helps build credibility with funders, partners, and local stakeholders.

Use the insights gathered to refine future programmes and improve support for participants.

As the programme grows, communities can replicate the model in new locations, expanding opportunities for
